Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed higher in a volatile Monday session, lifted by gains in auto and consumer discretionary stocks along with positive global market trends.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 80787.3 up by 76.54 points or by 0.09 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24773.15 up by 32.15 points or by 0.13 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 81171.38 and intraday low of 80733.07 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24885.5 and intraday low of 24751.55

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 719.35,+3.97%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3702.60,+3.96%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 15250.00,+2.32%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1348.40,+2.00%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 168.85,+0.72%), among others.
