The Indian rupee strengthened by 12 paise to 90.66 against the US dollar in early Monday trade, recovering from lower levels as the US dollar weakened against major global currencies.
However, continued foreign fund outflows from domestic equities and rising crude oil prices, amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, kept overall sentiment cautious, according to forex analysts.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 90.68 and advanced to 90.66, marking a 12-paise gain over its previous close.
